At Cairn expeditions we want to make a difference.
An expedition never happens without the support and core of the local community, so why should they not be at the center of our project?
For these reasons, we have decided to be fully transparent with our customers and focus our efforts on 3 main pillars.

Salary.
75%
On all our expeditions, Sherpa and porter are paid 75% more than the rest of the market. They are often away from home for long period of time in difficult conditions and we feel it’s only natural that they receive a fair payment for supporting our dreams.

Environment.
We all know the enormous impact of a long-distance flight to one of our distant locations; there is no hiding from that.
Instead of hiding from it, we have decided to shoulder that responsibility. 4% of our profits will go to a fund that sponsors education for underprivileged girls.
We will also provide you with rental mountaineering gear to reduce one-time purchases, and we highly encourage you to prioritise a vegetarian diet during the expedition.

Respect.
When joining one of our expeditions you will receive an expedition road book with a chapter on the local culture you will discover on your adventure. We encourage all the expedition members to learn a few words of the local language, learn more about the custom and traditions to show respect and consideration.
When booking an adventure with us you will receive an expedition road book. This document will tell you all you need to know about the expedition itself and will address in more detail the environmental and social aspect of the trip.
Our core commitment is to not be imposing our dreams upon the local community but work hand in hand with them so we can all flourish in this partnership.
Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
